A Heartwarming Tale of a Puppy’s Miraculous Rescue from the Clutches of Death

The Texas shelter was in for a surprise when Alexa was brought in. Her skin was hairless and incredibly sensitive, causing it to bleed at the slightest touch. But what truly stunned rescuers was the fact that she had been transported in a black garbage bag.

A woman discovered a six-month-old puppy with demodex mange, which is a skin disease caused by mites. The poor pup had scabs all over her body and was covered in fleas, indicating that she had been abandoned by her previous owner. Although the woman tried to give the puppy a bath and provide some basic care, she realized that more help was needed to nurse the puppy back to health. Fortunately, Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock in New York, came across the puppy’s story and reached out to Leslie Ysuhuaylas, a volunteer who works in Texas.

Ysuhuaylas wasted no time and promptly went to the shelter to retrieve Alexa. She was taken to a veterinarian in Dallas immediately due to her alarming condition caused by mange. It was astonishing that she managed to survive despite the severity of her condition, which did not occur overnight. The development of such severe mange takes several months, and it is uncommon for dogs to survive once they reach that stage.

In spite of the challenges, Alexa is not giving up. The treatment she’s receiving is working wonders and she’s enjoying all the love she’s receiving. Once she was healthy enough to travel, she went to New York City where she’s now available for adoption. What’s more, her fur is growing back and she’s hardly recognizable!
